Free Security Pulse: know where you stand in 30 minutes
The Security Pulse is a free, 12-question conversation with a CISSP. In about 30 minutes, we talk through how your business runs. Then we send you a one-page executive snapshot of your cyber risk, with quick wins and a 90-day plan.
No cost. No obligation. No access to your systems needed.
Looking for a free cyber risk assessment for your small business? This is the right first step.
12 questions. A real conversation.
It is directed, but it is a conversation, not a form. A few of the questions:
If you were locked out of your systems for 3 days, what happens operationally?
Do you and your employees use two-factor authentication everywhere it matters?
What keeps you up at night from a technology or cybersecurity standpoint?
We cover:
A one-page snapshot you can act on
Within a few days of the conversation, you receive your Security Pulse: an executive-level summary of what we discussed.
- Quick wins: what you can do today and this week
- What to build next: a 90-day plan, in order of priority
- Findings by priority: High, Medium, Low and Info, in plain English
- A document you can share with your partners, board, lender or insurer
The Security Pulse is honest about what it is.
- It is not an audit. We reflect on what we discuss.
- It is not a technical scan. We never touch your systems.
- It is not a sales pitch. We identify what is useful, not everything that could be sold.
If something raises a flag, that is exactly the point of the conversation.
Why we do this for free
Every small and mid-sized business should know where it stands, without worrying about a big bill just to find out. Most businesses in our community have never had anyone look. The Security Pulse gives them a starting point.
We will also be honest about the other side. Many of our clients started with a Security Pulse. Some teams go on to work with us, and some do not. Either way, the snapshot is yours, and our community is a little safer for it.
The owner, a partner or the person responsible for operations. You do not need a technical person on the call. If you have an IT provider, they are welcome, but not required.
That is up to you.
- Use it on your own. Many teams fix the quick wins themselves or with their current IT provider.
- Go deeper. A Risk 5x5 assessment gives you a full, ranked risk picture and a mitigation plan. Go deeper with a Risk 5x5 assessment →
- Get help. Fractional CISO leadership, ZTLayer managed security, or both.
- Fix the foundation. If the Pulse shows aging network or IT infrastructure, our fractional CIO team can plan and run the upgrade. See the Executive Stack →
- Grow. If the conversation turns to growth, a free Growth Pulse looks at the marketing side.
Jay's team started with a Security Pulse. What they learned led them to a full Risk 5x5 assessment:
"Steve is very knowledgeable and attentive to details. We appreciated all of the work and insight to our Risk Assessment to give us a working template to not only manage our cybersecurity, but also give us the tools to be successful with our mitigation."

Pick a time that works for you
Choose an open time on our calendar. It takes about a minute. You get a confirmation right away.
If you decide CyberCloak.Tech is not the right fit after your Security Pulse, that is completely okay. But please do not let the snapshot sit in a drawer. The items in it are worth fixing, and there are good people in the cybersecurity space who can help. What matters most to us is that you are protected, not that we are the ones who do it.
Common questions
Is the Security Pulse really free?
Yes. There is no cost and no obligation. You do not need to become a client.
Is this a cyber risk assessment?
It is a first-step risk snapshot based on a conversation. A full technical assessment goes deeper; the Pulse tells you if you need one and where to start.
Do you need access to our systems?
No. We do not log in, scan or install anything.
How long does it take?
The conversation takes 25–30 minutes. You receive your snapshot within a few days.
Is it remote or in person?
Either. Most are by video call. In the Siouxland area, we can meet in person.
Who sees our answers?
Only the CyberCloak.Tech team working with you. Your snapshot is yours to share or keep.
What happens if you find something serious?
We tell you clearly and calmly, and we tell you what to do first. That is the point of the conversation.
